In the Thick of It

Alba Cantu starts her race amid a heaving sea of skinsuits. The 15-year-old girl was one of nine members of the Nuevo Leon team from San Nicolas in Northern Mexico who competed in the race. She did not finish the race. But others on her team fared better. Natalia Solis, 19, finished second among the women. And teammates Eldon Morales, 18, and Juan Pablo Diaz, 15, finished eighth and ninth, respectively.
