Those Lucky Floridians!
piccolo
No wonder Florida produces so many great skaters (e.g. Joey Mantia and Jennifer Rodriguez). The state boasts some of the best facilities anywhere, including the amazing Brian Piccolo Park Velodrome in Cooper City. Aside from the tracks, there's a 4K criterium course, site of a weekly Sunday morning marathon.

Save the Rattleskate!
It's new, it's innovative, and it sounds like a lot of fun. But it's not gonna happen unless 64 more skaters sign up for the Arizona race by Saturday. The organizer needs skaters to pre-register (only 11 have so far) to gauge the viability of the Oct. 15 event.

Town Mulls Skate Ban
It's another one of those knee-jerk ideas. A few skateboarders damage some property in Lake Forest, Minn., so the muckety-mucks propose a partial ban aimed at all skaters.

a2a May Reach 400
The number of skaters signed up for the Athens to Atlanta Road Skate (Oct. 1) hit 350 last week, and organizers say that day-of registrations could push the number to 400. Only 100 skaters had registered by mid-August 2005 when organizers decided to cancel last year's race.

Houston Marathon Postponed
Unable to find a racecourse, organizers have scrubbed the launch of the Houston Inline Marathon but plan to try again next year. This year's event crumbled when a property owner withdrew support.

Skate Tip of the Week
Coping With Smelly Skates
stinkythumb
As World Team coach and skate mom, Linda Wood has had more experience with stinky skates than she likes to remember. So what's her advice? She lays it out in this week's skate tip.
