Peter Starykowicz of Long Grove, Ill. leads Rainbo (Team 1) during the first heat of the team time trial. Close behind Rainbo is Flanders 3, lead at this point by Scott Olson of Neenah, Wisc. (Not to be confused with Scott Olson, the founder of Rollerblade.) Teams were not allowed to merge pacelines or draft off of one another and were required to stay at least 25 feet a part, except while passing.
