Revamped event joins the inline race series

Here's another great reason to visit the Land of Obama this summer:

The Chicagoland Inline Marathon has joined the 2009 National Roller Cup.

The marathon is one part of the Get Fit America Sports Festival, three days of skating, cycling and running, July 24-26 in suburban Hoffman Estates.

"The Chicagoland Inline Marathon has revamped its image and event in 2009 to deliver the participants an unmatched experience — and being part of NROC is part of delivering the participant more," said event organizer Peter Starykowicz of All Community Events.

The 2009 National Roller Cup now includes eight events, starting Sunday with the Squiggy Classic Inline outside Tampa.

"We are very happy to have Chicagoland on board again this year," said NROC organizer Robert Burnson, publisher of the Inline Planet.

"Chicagoland is an exciting event that keeps evolving and growing. In just three years, it has become one of North America's top skating events, and the organizers are clearly not ready to rest on their laurels."
