“Marathon”

Definition: A marathon is a race of 26.2 miles. It used to be a running or walking race. Now it's becoming a popular inline skating event. Some participants in these inline marathons are double-push bad boys. Most are more like weekend skaters, out to have a good time.

The marathon is an event that honors the memory of Greek hero Philippides (or Pheidippides). When the Persians landed on the plains of Marathon in 490 B.C, Philippides was dispatched to Sparta to ask for help. Upon delivering his message, he collapsed and died. ... To bad he didn't have a nice pair of Rollerblades (They were around then, weren't they?). He would have barely broken a sweat!

Also Known As: A long slog!
