Hedrick Weighs His Options
Agent says Olympic star is interested in promoting inline and going to Hollywood

Photo of Chad HedrickFor the past few years, Chad Hedrick has been little more than a legend in the inline world.

With his focus locked on the ice, he has competed in only a handful of inline events—and even then, not with his usual competitive zeal. (For the most part, he seemed to be saving himself for the ice last year.)

But with the Torino Winter Games over, the 28-year-old Texan would like to do something to give back to his roots by promoting some inline events, says his agent Ty Kilinc.

Hedrick hasn't said which events. And it's not clear how much time he will have to devote to the effort, given his continued pursuit of long track ice—(He has already said he plans to skate in the 2010 Olympics)—and his new interests, which include acting.

"There are a lot of people coming at us right now," Kilinc said. Television producers want him for appearances; companies are lining up for his endorsement; and Hollywood is sending him movie scripts to consider.

Kilinc's company, Clipse Management, has already scored an endorsement deal for Hedrick with Nike. And it's in talks with three other companies: Porsche, Visa, and McDonald's, Kilinc said.

For the rest of this month, Hedrick will continue to focus on the ice, as he prepares for the World Championships in Calgary.

But later in the spring, "we are definitely going to focus on his TV and film offers," Kilinc said. "We already have some scripts to read, and Chad is very interested."

But somehow, the Olympic champion still plans to make time for inline, his agent said.

"He's going to be doing some things (involving inline). I'm just not sure what yet."
