Once again Nicole Begg found herself a marked person covered by the strong Colombian team of 8. What was more dissapointing was that in a number of breaks and attacks Nicole instigated, skaters with her were not prepared to come through and take leads to keep the break going. So at the end with 8 Colombians left and no real strong team to counter them, it was common knowledge what the outcome would be.

Italian Di Eugeno / Nicole were on Bridgette Mendez / she just put the brakes on on the final hill, with Mendez 17th / Di Eugeno 21st, Nicole Salvaging a 9th placing in a cheat fest Finish, with defending Champion Sabine Berg 19th.

With the strong Asian Nation women missing, it was a nightmare championships, losing two medals through cheating / 1 through a bad crash over other fallen skaters.two 4ths and one by only half a wheel were little consolation in the individual titles, 2010 was the victim of circumstances / suffered severly with the absence of the Korean skaters, who would apply the pace and take some of the attention / focus off her.

! And the bloody dwarf rasist and 1rst class Colombian hater Begg was so happy that Cecilia Baena dit not attend this worlds, so that 4 gold should be in the pocket for his Nic.

Mario Valencia - Colombian native - winner of the Maratón Junior Men - Guarne 2010

Mario Valencia is a Junior skater from Cali Colombia, but racing for the USA, to win the marathon of the World championships, doing the hard work and sail in the Victory was felt like another win for Colombia so to say.

Mario his mother is former Worlld Champion Luz Mery Tristan from Colombia, a proud Colombian who together with Claudia Ruiz and Guillermp Leon Botero won the first Colombian gold medals in their now a days rich but short history in 1990 on home soil Bello de Colombia.

And now 20 years after that all out historic event her oldest son Mario Valencia wins the World Junior Marathon Title, also in Colombia. Luz Mery Tristan Valencia runs the LMT skating School in Cali Colombia, and brings up her 5 Children alone.

The family story is well known in Colombia and particularly the USA, as her Husband and Mario’s Father Mario Valencia was extridited to the USA as an alleged head of the Cali cartel. This was on a lot of circumstantial evidence and the case is now in gridlock at the 4th appeal level.

It was touching to hear that his father locked away for an indefinate time, was saving a lot of his valuable 100 minutes a month maximum time limit on telephone contact, so he could get in touch with his son Mario, who in his situation, has risen to the top of the establishment by winning that marathon Crown, to be applauded by the home crowd all up to the Amèricas.

Guarne and Colombia topped the international RollerSpeed standard.
01.NOV.2010: Following the cancellation of the original headquarters in Barquisimeto (Venezuela), organized Guarne World Championship in record time. Analysis of all the experience.

In record time, Guarne built a complete modern Municipal Skating Complex.
Silence and tranquility returned to the streets of Guarne after two weeks of madness, passion and pure adrenaline in a town that came to fame in the hands of speed skating.

Colombia came to give full support to our sport and turned Guarne big to take a giant challenge: Organize an ICC World Cup just four months.

If we go back to the past, last March, during the South American Games played in Medellín, Venezuela publicly confirmed his defection to organize the best event of our discipline and in that moment began to ring rumors of possible candidates from appearing Chile, Germany and inevitably Colombia. Others were even faster and said why not imagine a World Cup in the new skating rink in Guarne?. Guarne many locations on the map and there began the world arena of Antioquia. The oldest went back immediately to Bello 1990 and others agreed to Barrancabermeja 2000.

After some weeks of uncertainty, Guarne was finally chosen to host the ICC World Cup 2010 and there appeared the first problem for many athletes: The more than 2100m high. The solution was to turn to the pockets and reach the host city several weeks in advance to accommodate the height and compete on equal terms.

Guarne work 24 hours a day to build a modern, comprehensive setting where shooting took advantage of the facilities used during the last South American Games. The rain was the big rival throughout the organization had a construction phase and during the dispute climate championship gave no respite or a single day (except day of rest paradoxically).

Beyond minimum organizational errors and any possible criticism Guarne infrastructure, the people of Antioquia gave him a warm welcome to the world figure skating being a host of luxury and leading his country to the top of our sport. The love and kindness of Antioquia was expressed in the highest quality from organizers, volunteers, supporters and all the villagers who saw their lifestyle changed with the vibration of skating.

Facilities showed no major problems, the route was an innovative figure who favored more technical sport, local television coverage made a brilliant success supported by the rating and the local call was a boom with a stadium filled in each day's end . Perhaps the weakest point was the last day with the organization of marathons Ríonegro.
