10th Anniversary of the Moorea Blue Marathon

Approximately, 200 skaters skated and waited in paradise ten years ago. The event, which was held on the island of Moorea in French Polynesia, was put on by Get In Line Events. Christopher Pierre was the intrepid travel agent. The seven day skating holiday was filled with surprises,adventure,rain, skating, more rain, but MOST of all, FUN.
A destructive storm blew through the night before we were scheduled to leave the island,thus delaying our departure by several days. The Tahitian Minister of Recreation gave everyone a letter attesting as to the reason why we were stranded in paradise. Many of us also saved the local newspaper, which told of our plight
Eddy Matzger won the pro male div. and Theresa Cliff won first place in the pro female division. Chris Pierre put on an inline skate race every year, thereafter, in French Polynesia, until 2007. There were about 25 skaters who attended in 2006.

Does that mean that this event is no longer being held, or that someone else is now running it??? It's be a shame if it's no longer being held... I'd love to do an event like that, not that I could afford the travel, but I'd still love to do it!

When we returned last year from Tahiti, I sent Chris some pix of our trip. He decided to organize a 10th anniversary skate. There was a lot of interest from past Tahiti skaters...mostly those from California and AZ. Unfortunately, the price of gas went sky high and value of the dollar dropped. Chris determined that he could not get enough skaters to justify the expense/time required to organize/put on such an event, again. He was moving in a different direction, occupation wise.
Who knows? Maybe Eddy will slow down some day and put on another exotic skate in paradise!
