Very cool, The TX Road Rash is definitely one of the absolute best races in the USA. While it is not a point to point, it is BETTER in many respects. It is a wide open road race on a great course with no 180 degree turn-a-rounds. The 6 laps allow for the BEST in spectatorship because you can see the strategies take place. The central area is fabulous, as it is located adjacent to the baseball stadium with a massive parking lot allowing for a great pre-race warm-up, lots of room for a perfact area near the start/finish line for ALL pre and post race activities, especially the party.
Austin is an amazing city and the spring bloom of the Blue Bonnets is really beautiful.
I highly advise a side trip to the small town of Shiner, TX about a 2 - 3 hour drive to a great brewery which is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The brewery is very cool to see. The tour is awesome , the beer is great and it is a perfect excuse !!!
I am already arranging guaranteed time off work and I am VERY PUMPED for this race.
Just to clarify the race date planning............... is it accurate to say that the natural (preferred) race date is April 5th, but that was a no-go because of Easter........... the #2 date is April 12th , also a no-go because of a big baseball event conflicting................. so the race landed on April 19th ???????????????????
