Strong Field for Stage 4 of Eastern Seaboard Series

Members of the newly minted U.S. World Team will be among a strong field of East Coast and Canadian skaters racing in Saturday’s half marathon in Trexlertown, PA.

The race is the fourth stage of the Eastern Seaboard Series and a Class A event in the 2010 National Roller Cup.

Among the top competitors will be World Team members Keith Carroll and Chelsea Creveling. Also expected to lace up are Speed Skate World’s Peter Doucet and Morgane Echardour; K2/Empire Speed’s Francisco Ramirez and Knowl Johnson; Hoigaard’s Herb Gayle; Skater Quest’s Brian Oswald and Jeffrey Neal; and Cado Motus’ James and Chris Springer and Aaron Warr.

The racing starts at 8 a.m. with a 5K for recreational skaters and advanced juveniles on a flat track. The half marathons for the pros start at 9 .m.. Next up are the 10Ks for advanced skaters and pro juveniles. The racing concludes with 1K time trials starting at noon.

The skaters will compete on the looping road course through the Bob Rodale Cycling and Fitness Park in Trexlertown.

The roller sports commission in India contacted the organizer to say its national team might skate the event as part of its pre-Worlds warmup tour, said series organizer Bob Albanese. But so far, there has been no confirmation.

NROC pros will earn Class A points in the half marathon; advanced and youth skaters will earn Class A points in the 10K.

Forecasters are predicting sunny skies with some clouds and a high temperature of 84 degrees.

Race schedule

  • 7 a.m. - Registration
  • 8 a.m. - 10K for advanced juvenile and rec skaters
  • 9 a.m. - 21K for pro masters and veterans
  • 10 a.m. - 21K for open pros
  • 11 a.m. - 10K for pro juveniles and advanced skater
  • noon - 1K time trials
