Planet Adventure's video of the road course

Planet Adventure's Indianapolis race series rolls into the city's largest park on Sunday for the second of four NROC-sanctioned inline marathons.

Skaters will race on a 1.456-mile road course in Eagle Creek Park on the city's west side.

The course is a favorite with Indianapolis-area skaters, said Thomas A. Stergar II, Planet Adventure's inline event coordinator.

It features several turns — four right and two left — and a few mild hills. The pavement is mostly smooth with a few minor rough spots.

"It should be a fast race ... if the weather cooperates," Stergar said.

The forecast is for partly cloudy skies and mild temperatures in the mid-50s to low-70s.

Among the skaters headed to the race is Ken Huss, who leads the overall NROC standings with 320 points.

NROC skaters will earn Class A points in the full marathon. The full and half marathons start at 8 a.m.

The full name of the race is the Eagle Creek Park NROC "Contemporary" Circuit Race. It is the second Planet Adventure event to include inline racing. Planet Adventure is an Indianapolis-based sports event company that hopes to make inline racing a part of its annual offerings.

Eagle Creek is one of the largest municipal parks in North America. "Trails, shelters with grills, picnic areas, playgrounds, canoe rentals, restrooms and beaches are just some of the amenities," Stergar said.

Auto racing fans may be drawn to the nearby Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which opens its season on Saturday, May 15th.

Look for coverage of the marathon on the Inline Planet on Sunday morning.
