Team Simmons' Alex Fedak claimed the win in today's Houston Inline Marathon after a breakaway that gave him and teammate Rob Bell a big lead.

Fedak, 43, of Oklahoma City, posted a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes and 52.38 seconds. Simmons teammate Rob Bell, 24, also of Oklahoma City, finished two-tenths of a second back.

DFW Speed's Joseph Burns finished three minutes later to claim third.

Gabriela Schwarz, 40, of Germany easily won the women's race with a time of 1:17:42.

Next came Lili Simon, 15, of Las Vegas Speed Team, with a time of 1:28:22.

Team Rainbo's Margo Carvell finished seven hundredths of a second back to claim third.

The skaters raced on a six-lap, up-and-back road course on Allen Parkway in downtown Houston. The weather was sunny and mild.

The event also included quad divisions of the half and full marathon races, both of which were dominated by skaters from the Houston Roller Derby league.

The Quad Half Marathon was won by Misty Moody (aka Mistilla the Killa), 32, of HRD's Psych Ward Sirens team, with a time of 1:01:21; the Quad Marathon was won by Christy Kern (aka Savage Rose), 37, of HRD's Burlesque Brawlers, with a time of 2:10:32.
